It’s likely no surprise by now that I use essential oils in EVERY aspect of my life… and that includes in the bedroom!

While some people giggle or blush at the thought, the fact is, oils are proven to be beneficial in all kinds of ways behind closed doors… from G to PG-13. 🙂

Using Essential Oils In The Bedroom

Every night around 9 pm, I head to my bedroom and “clock in” to some me time. The kid’s homework is done, there’s no more driving to do, and I can just focus on me.

Ultimately our bedrooms should be zones of relaxation… but with the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life, it’s easy to let laundry, kids, and pets take over.

So go ahead and use this as your excuse to reclaim your space! Remove things that don’t spark joy in you (al la Marie Kondo style), introduce things you love, and commit to defining this zone as your personal unwinding station.

My bedroom is full of candles, diffusers, and pictures of my horses and me and my husband. I vow to keep it spotless even if it looks like the rest of the house has been tossed.

Using essential oils in my bedroom is a scented reminder to keep my space clean and peaceful, which is critical to my self-care and overall mood!

Ways To Use Oils In The Bedroom

Of course, I could simply plop some oils in a diffuser and call it a night (literally!) but there are some other really cool ways to incorporate essential oils into your nightly routine.

Take A Bath

Now that our remodel is done, I have my bath back! I soaked in it so long the first night that my fingers turned into raisins.

Drop a few of your favorite essential oils (suggestions below) directly into the bath or mix them with Epson salt for an exfoliating treat.

Pair with a glass of wine and a good book for best results. 😉

Give (Or Get) A Massage

Touch is one of the most powerful senses. And when you combine it with a warming essential oil? Wowza.

Be sure to check that the oil you’re using is appropriate for topical use and dilute it with a carrier oil (like fractionated coconut oil).

Then, let the day’s worries melt away while giving or receiving an essential oil charged message.

Tackle The Softer Things In Life

Add a relaxing oil, like lavender, to a spray bottle and dilute it down with water. Then spray your pillows, throw blankets, and curtains with that amazing scent!

You can also add your favorite oil to a wool dryer ball and toss it in the next time you wash your sheets.

Oil Up Your Skin Care

There’s no limit to how you can use essential oils to care for your skin during your nightly routine.

But my top tip? Remember that frankincense is proven to hold anti-aging benefits and improve acne struggles.

Catch Some Zzz’s

The next time you’re lying awake at night, try rubbing some lavender oil on the bottom of your feet! You can even add some lotion and give yourself a mini foot rub.

Go With A Classic: Diffuse

You can’t go wrong with diffusing in your bedroom. Of course, you’ll reap the benefits from whatever oil you’ve selected, but you’ll also score a peaceful sound and glowing light for 2, 5, or even 10 hours depending on your diffuser.
